It is 1959 in Buenos Aires. Mabel, a woman who works in a ministry, travels to a field to sign a contract for a property. When she arrives, she meets people who are not what they seem to be. The rancher Antonovich, owner of the farm, has died and for fear of facing justice and losing everything, the wife pretends to be him with the help of a friend, a race car driver. Mabel's arrival complicates their alibi. But the woman's life is also complicated. Everything drives her crazy and finally, after the tragic death of the couple of friends, it is she who takes the place of the rancher to continue with the mystification.
